Founded in 1999, Bayesware Limited is a privately-owned company developing Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining software based on Bayesian methods. Bayesware produces and supports programs, delivers custom-built solutions, provides training programs, and offers consultancy services to corporate customers and public institutions.

Bayesian networks are one of the most successful developments of current Artificial Intelligence research but their application to Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining is still an open and exciting area of development. Bayesian networks and Bayesian methods in general provide a powerful approach to understanding and analyzing data, grounded in the solid foundations of Bayesian statistics. Our flagship program, Bayesware Discoverer - the first Knowledge Discovery program based on Bayesian networks - encapsulates the vision and the mission of our company: deploy cutting-edge technology in reliable and dependable commercial products.

Bayesware limited was founded in 1999 but its origins date back to 1996, when a statistician, Paola Sebastiani, and a computer scientist, Marco Ramoni, started a collaboration to develop efficient machine learning methods to extract Bayesian networks from possibly incomplete databases. In April 1999 Marco Ramoni and Paola Sebastiani joined forces with Jerzy Grzeda, an alumnus of London Business School with experience in business management for research-driven information technology enterprises, to found Bayesware Limited. The board of Bayesware was further strengthened by the arrival of Marc Eisenstadt, Director of the Knowledge Media Institute at the Open University, United Kingdom.

"The Circle and the Arrow" in our corporate logo represent the two graphical components of a Bayesian network: nodes and arcs.
