Bayesware Limited was chosen as one of
the last UK SMEs to benefit from the ANIMATE programme. ANIMATE
is financially supported by the European Commission under
the Innovation Programme for Framework IV.
The programme was designed for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) SMEs in the UK by Oxford
Innovation Limited, the commercial arm of The Oxford Trust,
and delivered in partnership with the Teaching Company Directorate.
The
programme will allow Bayesware to benefit from the experience
of Oxford Innovation in fostering the growth of innovative
technology-driven companies. "I
was absolutely delighted to be asked to work with entrepreneurs
Marco Ramoni and Paola Sebastiani" reported David Ray, one
of Oxford Innovation's Senior Consultants. "This is the most
challenging technology transfer project in computer science
I have faced since trying to link the research of Edsger Dijkstra
and Lincoln Wallen at the University of Austin in Texas, to
the commercial IT needs of one the UK's leading technology-driven
multinationals!" "But that was before the web had made such
an impact in terms of commercial opportunities. Now we have
to move so much faster. ANIMATE has allowed us to make a real
difference to an early stage start-up with significant growth
potential. The EC got this one right, and we look for a similar
approach under Framework V to supporting wealth creation from
the best of European research."
